This is not just a business story — it’s a journey of grit, vision, and belief in small beginnings. Blaze Jomin and Muhammed Fayis, two young minds from Wayanad, Kerala, turned a simple college idea into a successful travel venture, all with zero investment — just a laptop and an internet connection.
The Idea That Sparked It All
Back in 2017, while still in college, the duo dreamt of helping people experience travel differently. But with no funds in hand, even taking a trip seemed like a luxury. Still, the spark of the idea refused to die. They decided to try — not big, but small. Armed with nothing but a laptop and the internet, they began their journey, crafting travel packages for their homeland, Wayanad.
They named their venture Wayanad Trip Planner LLP, focusing initially on curated experiences within Wayanad. Their nights were sleepless — spent designing packages, coordinating with vendors, and building trust one conversation at a time.
From Wayanad to Across India
As more travelers began to enjoy their experiences in Wayanad, requests started coming in for trips to other locations. That’s when their friends Basim and Aashiq joined the journey, and together they founded Gotripzee.com.
Gotripzee took the idea to the next level — offering travel packages enriched with local experiences, cab services, and hotel bookings to destinations across India. What started as a local initiative evolved into a pan-India travel company.
The Struggles That Shaped the Brand
The beginning wasn’t easy. With barely any bookings in the first few months, it felt like the plan was destined to fail. But giving up was never an option. Rather than just selling a travel package, they focused on delivering an unforgettable experience. The first 10 bookings became 100, and today, they have crossed over 100,000 bookings.
Now, the company operates in 26 locations, works with 30+ vendors, and employs a team of 6 staff members. Yet, the journey was anything but smooth — floods, landslides, the Nipah outbreak — the team faced every challenge head-on. Through it all, their focus was simple: deliver great service and build a brand customers can trust.
Lessons from the Journey
This story is a reminder that not all businesses need to start with heavy funding. What you really need is belief in your idea and the courage to take risks. Blaze and Fayis didn’t wait for capital to come in — they started small, embraced the struggles, and let every sleepless night and rejection build a stronger foundation for their dream.
Their message is clear:
You don’t need a full bank account to build a business. All you need is belief, consistency, and the will to keep going — even when things get hard.
So, if you’ve been waiting for the “right time” or enough funds to start something — maybe your journey should begin today. Just like theirs did.
